Warranty Work Complete

Got my truck back from the stealership yesterday after a few warranty issues...

1. Rear glass replaced with 02' assembly
2. Seal around outside edge of sunroof replaced (bowing)
3. Pinstripe replaced around entire truck
4. Engine Compartment Hood Liner replaced
5. King Ranch Steering Wheel Replaced because of leather 'breakdown' on bottom portion of wheel.
6. Windshield Washer Solution Lines replaced (leaking)
7. Sticker that shows belt schematic inside engine compartment replaced (bubbled and looked like poo)
8. Tie down cleat in bed box replaced (broken and stripped)
9. Passenger side foglight assembly replaced (condensation)

I'm going to be removing the new glass assembly that they put in... I just recieved my POWR SLIDER!!

Just thought I'd give a friendly report so that correlations could be drawn if others had similar/the same problems.

RP,

What did the leather "breakdown" on the wheel look like? There are patches on the bottom wrap of my 02 that look like it is wearing differently (at leat color wise). I wonder if thats only covered under the 12k bumper to bumper though?

The glass portion, itself, is not where 99.9% of the rear assemblies have been leaking (they changed the design in 02 because they were having so many problems--they didn't change how the glass worked). It's up around the gasket around the back glass where the problems have been occuring. Hence, yes, I'll be selling the standard slider once I get the powr slider installed as a non-leaker... it doesn't leak... how do you leak 'through glass'? It occurs around seals... not through the glass.... This sliding glass window is a glass replacement; not the entire rear assembly. My sliding window is like new with zero problems.

The truck is a 2001. It only has 19k miles but, what you're forgetting here is that most of the work I had done was asthetic. Nothing major mechanical. I'm **** about my truck and most all of you know that hence, the long list of asthetic items.

It's somewhat hard to explain but, I suppose I could say that the leather was napping. What I mean by 'nap' is it had split in some spots and resembled seude. The reason it happend is because of the bonehead sales manager that had my truck before I bought it... the leather was neglected and he drove with that bottom portion of the wheel (whereas I drive by not touching the KR leather on the wheel). Long story short, he didn't take care of it the first 4k miles and I didn't have them replace it before I bought it as a demo. The wheel was covered by warranty but, I'll tell you this; it took an act of congress and me schmoozing my service rep to pull it off. She says that she still can't believe that they accepted it as a warranty replacement as she thought they would call it 'normal wear'.

That's the best way I can explain it... hope that helps.

There is obviously a lot of the steering wheel problems here in Florida with the intense sunlight, because the dealers here told me they replace them under warranty all the time. As a matter of fact, my fiance's 2002 Sport Trac is going to need a replacement here really soon. For some reason, my 2001 steering wheel wore much worse than the replacement they gave me. I wonder if they changed something about them? The same goes for the other vehicles like the Sport Trac. The old one is just really crappy, but the new ones look much nicer (and I'm not just talking about one being new and the other old...I'm talking about quality of construction).

Both the F150 wheel and the Explorer wheel are made by the same company... LEER

Hard to say about the quality issues but, I'm with dufunnel, my new wheel is much nicer than my old one although, the stitching isn't as white. I suppose that would be my only complaint. (I told you I was **** about my truck)...

Yes, the thunk was mentioned however; nothing was done to correct the problem. There is a line item on my receipt that reads "tech could not duplicate stated problem...".

Long story short, I didn't have time to deal with it on this trip due to repeated trips between Kentucky and Washington State but, it's still on my radar screen...

rock,

in my experience you have to take them out with you and show them what it's doing. don't rely on them to find it cause they usually don't...or at least that's their story! guess i can't necessarily blame them given ford's slackass reimbursement for warranty work...
