Anyone had their KR appraised ?

Well I' got the fever this weekend to take a cruise through my Ford dealers lot. I really like the size of the Super Duty..and I want one. I went through step one... what are the rates incentives etc. Step 2 was appraisal of the truck. Apparantly with the glutten of 1-2 year old trade ins on the market the KR's resale value is soft too. I received a whopping 19K appraisal on my 01. No dents, dings, or weathering at all (garage kept 95%). I was kinda surprised... any one else have any recent appraisals?

I work at the Dallas Auto Auction, largest wholesale auction in the metroplex. Edmunds and NADA are generally a few grand off, especially in this area. Dealers use primarily the Black Book, it is printed every week for the southern region and uses values submitted by the auctions. Also, dealers hate to buy anything for more than "rough" book, so they start there. People don't like it but its how it must be done. I looked at my black book from november 15th and the values then was like 19,200. So I would say they gave you a pretty good bid. But, you can get another grand or maybe two out of them if they know you are serious. The market is just really soft right now. Good Luck!

The problem is our economy! Until we get out of this mess, our vehicles are not going to be worth getting out of. The auto makers are offering such great deals on getting a new vehicle that there are to many used vehicles and that makes it harder to sell a used vehicle and finance it compared to buying a new one. When I traded in my 2001 SuperCrew XLT with 12K back in October, I got 21K for it. First let me say there were no hidden numbers as I purchased my 03 KR on the Ford A plan and there is no number playing. I paid 27K for the 01 back in July 01 on X-plan. For the dealer to sell my 01 as a used vehicle is hard when you can't really finance lower than 5 to 9 %. So someone could walk in and purchase a new 03 XLT Supercrew at the low interest rate and the cash back and have the same monthly payment as getting a used 01 Supercrew with the higher interest and no cash back. So, hang on to your vehicles as you won't really get what you want for them. They really did not make money on selling my 01 as it sold two days after I traded it in and the salesman said they sold it for 22.5K.

KR values

Yep I have to agree with you. It's worth no less then trade in value to me so I will go ahead and hang on to. I don't know if our economy will be in any better shape in the next year though. Maybe I need to look into swapping out the buckets and console in the rear for the bench seat.

Heck if it is possible to do so, I would swap with you! I wanted the rear buckets and all the 03s around here on every lot were the full seat.
