Headed to Key West for New Years, need travel hints...

Well the Lil' Mrs, Boy, and I are taking the KR to Key West for New Years in our 1st "we saved for it, planned it out, not just visiting family" vacation in 5 years, and I was looking for some vacation tips

(I'm gonna be sorry I posted this I know ).

So far I only came up with a few:

1. Drink Marguiritas!

2. As hard as it may be, keep roof closed down highway one (you'de be suprised what a wallop those pelicans carry!)

3. Drink more Marguiritas!

4. Remember, Jimmy Buffet he don't live in Key West anymore (a big smile and well done for anyone that remembers who sang that without resorting to Google )

5. For a change of pace drink a couple of Rumrunners.

6. Drink Marguiritas to wash down the Rumrunner taste.

7. Don't drink and drive, theres nothing worth denting the truck (or worse)...

8. Since I'm not driving, Drink Marguiritas!

9. Visit some of those "Culturally Significant" places like Hemmingway House (do they sell Marguiritas there?).

On the serious side my wife and I met in Key West many years ago, some old jammin' friends will be there with us and this will be a great trip.

I wish ALL of you a GREAT New Years and rest assured,
Come midnight on Duval street I'll be Drinking Marguiritas to toast you all (Daveman is my list up to date? )

Be sure to listen to Barry Cuda & the Sharks . He's a good piano player and showman. He will play at different places by pushing his upright (it's got wheels) down the sidewalk to the next bar. I know he plays at Sloppy Joe's. He's not for the kids, but worth checking-out.
Have fun.

I don't know the area very well but, I'm sure you'll have a great time.

"Live it up" is the only advice I can give you. Vacations are few and far between for most of us... once you finally land one, make sure to take TOTAL advantage of it!

HAVE FUN!!!!!

RP,

Sorry, I was being a little vague, I actually spent 2 years there for Uncle Sam and a year doing "civilian" IT stuff, but I do agree about the vacations, I definitely earned this one and thanks! (now, got any tips to save gas money?)

I'm just excited about going (something about Marguiritas made with REAL Key Limes) and needed to share
I met my wife of many moons when I was living there and it's one of those places that hold those "never to recreate" memories for us.

I do wish (even though I love the KR) that I could "rumble" Duval St. in my old red Lightning but hey, they'll love the leather anyways.

Don't think I heard a lot of Barry & co, the main act at Sloppys when I was there was "The Outta' Hand Band". The bass player had lost his right hand and used a prosthetic to hold a pick. These guys played blues and blues rock (lotta Clapton etc) and were really good, hope they're still there.

BTW, I'm from the Dayton/Cincinnati area so we have two things in common.

To All...

Merry Xmas & Happy New Year!
