Hello from Bama

Not really a mechanic I just know how to turn a wrench and Im not scared to mess something up cause I figure it can be fixed. I have a 2003 F150 Extended Cab 4.2 with a bad knocking noise brought on by an oil pump failure. It runs still but won't go past 35mph. I havent driven it really since, but I do have to crank it and move it on occasion. I have a 06 Mustang 4.0 thats my daily driver that I have replaced alot of parts on like the alternator, radiator, ac condenser, hoses, throttle body, manifold, EGR, headers, gaskets, exhaust and a few other things so I can figure stuff out with the help of the internet and forums such as these.

Anyway thats a little on my background and issue I'm tackling. Do I know whats wrong with the engine? Not at all. Im assuming its the pistons...but like I said, I'm no mechanic and just learning really.
