re-introduction
I have been a member for a while, when I purchased my new 2006. I've been a FORD owner for over 30 years.
Now, after a new rear-end, and facing rear main seal and other transmission problems, I purchased a NEW TO ME 2014.
2014, 5.0L, 4x4 XLT in excellent condition, really like new, 42K miles.
Jesus, I am in love with this dang truck. It has the sound of a Mustang with most of the get-up-and-go. Next week I will add the DECKED drawer system and a bed-cap. I have a 'raptor-like' grille ordered, and am looking at the 'blackout' tail and head lights.
So, I am entering a whole new world now. I want to add a cold air system, oil/air separator, and a ... uh... what is the term... "CAT-back" exhaust?
Any tips or tricks or advice you care to share will be graciously accepted.
Now I'm looking into a tune kit to maximize the additions... I'm having to learn the concepts and the TERMS... like another language altogether!
Anyway, I'll be a bit more "regular" going forward... poorer, but more regular! lol

A cat-back is an exhaust system which replaces everything behind the Y-pipe and cats. You only need one if you want to make more noise, the stock exhaust is quite low-restriction. If you want noise and looks, a single in/dual out cat-back with dual tailpipes is the most popular, run the pipes straight out the back or behind the rear wheels out the side like the stock tailpipe.
Don't bother with a "cold air" system. Same deal, the stock system is "cold air" and passes more than enough air for the engine. If you do get one, get one that uses a DRY (not oiled) filter.
A SCT programmer with custom tunes from one of the better mail-order tuning houses is the way to go. Examples are 5 Star or MPT.
