That's entirely true, but on used trucks, the KR package is a generally $3k premium over a lariat that is otherwise identical.
I'm not a fan of all the chrome, so I like the painted bumpers. But it is a PITA when they get all chipped up. The retracting boards are "cool" but I don't like them either because I don't wanna have to wait for them to unfold. I'm used to just jumping out, then they hit me in the back of my legs. As far as breaking, that's how I view all electronics system, but especially exterior items in a snowy climate. It's not nearly as much of an issue down here.

I don't dislike the look of the painted bumpers (I actually think the FX4 looks really good) but from a durability standpoint, I'd rather have the chrome. If I lived in a drier climate, I wouldn't mind the painted bumpers but I don't and I also drive a lot of highway miles. With that said, I do take much better care of my cars than the average person. I wax them at least monthly and I always wash them after a trip to remove bugs but the paint chips are inevitable. Even if I decided I could live with the painted bumpers, I still hate those retractable boards! lol
I went online this morning and built the Lariat again. The price I had before was after a rebate. With the Spray in liner ($475) and the Bed extender ($250) the total sticker rings in at $55,040!
The 6.2 Platinum with same options & accessories is $56,835 and the 5.0/3.73 King Ranch is $53,930. Crazy!!

Well I ended up ordering a King Ranch 5.0/3.73 every option Screw yesterday. I was on the fence between a Lariat 6.2/3.73 and the 5.0/3.73 KR. Cost wise they were within $820 sticker price with the KR being the cheaper of the two. I drove a 6.2/3.73 F-250 (only 6.2s they had) and a Lariat 5.0/3.55 back to back. I realize the F-250 was maybe a little heavier but the seat-o-pants meter didn't seem like the 6.2 was all that much faster. You could tell from a stop that the 5.0 took longer to build power but the difference just wasn't enough to be worthwhile IMO. Besides, I liked the KR interior better.
Now that wait begins! I'm already putting together a list of accessories that I plan to order soon.
