Just another Newb

Hello from Southern Indiana,

My last Ford was a 1992 Ranger 3.0L That had a hard life prior to my getting her, & in the 3-1/2 years I owned her I didn't baby her much either.
Well with 250.000 + hard miles on the Odometer she past away in her sleep on a Cold @zz Day earlier this month.

Her replacement is a 2004 F150 XL Heritage 4.2L 5-spd.
I bought her with a Rod in the oilpan, & 200,000 already on the Odometer, But She is in Really good condition & worth putting money into considering I gave 300.00 for Her.
As of last week I R&R'ed the Engine, with a used one with 110,000 on it, & all new clutch parts.

She is running but not well, & She has a P0174 ( bank 2) lean code.

But Thanks to this Forum, I now know where to look to fix this problem & get her running like she should!

Welcome! Hope you get the truck running like it should. You sound like a very proficient type guy, jump in and help where you can.

Thanks for the welcome, Every-one!

@ Bluejay, I do as well, as I need to start recovering the money I have invested in her. But as long as she is running lean, All she is going to do is sit.
I will try to be helpful when, & where I can.

Thumbs up

Well I think I know why the old engine threw a rod into the oil-pan!
After New Plugs - Wires - Fuel Filter - Upper intake gaskets & Isolator bolts. Cleaning the MAF, EGR tube, & Throttle-body, To no avail!
I got online & found a Diagram that showed the correct routing for the ignition wires, Low & behold #4 & #6 were switched, She is Now running sweetly!

I installed the Wires onto the new motor from the old just as they were, & changed them one at a tyme when I replaced them with new wires, actually ran better after new wires But still had a miss.
So the old engine was most likely running cross wired for some tyme, till She couldn't take the abuse anymore & blew!

Welcome to the site!

Good job on finding the reason she wouldn't run! I'm happy to hear the truck is running as it should.

Cheers and Welcome again
