Need speedo help

Hello, driven Fords all my life, explorers, rangers, etc. this is my first brush with the f150.
Recently acquired a 2002 xl, 4.2L, 2wd, manual transmission. The speedometer does not work. All the other gauges work, the odometer is lit and stuck on one number.
I've changed the VSS sensor on the tailstock of the trans, as well as the ABS/speed sensor on the differential
Checked the fuses in the cab and cannot see any thing out of place in the relay box.
Cleaned the three ground connections on the firewall.

Still nothing, Ive seen things about the PSOM, and changes under the dash, its been too cold here in the midwest to hang outside too long.
Any ideas or solutions would be helpful.
Ive read about broken connections on the cluster circuit board pertaining to the odometer light, but have not seen anything that relates to my problem.

I guess I have yet to check the harnesses for broken connections. but Ive never seen a harness act like that on any other vehicles.

Thanks
