thicker tires without lifting

Hi, I'm new to the forum.
I have a black 2007 Lariat supercrew cab. I have the standard 275/65/r18 on my truck now.
I wanted to know what are the thickest tires I can get without lifting. I was told that even the next step up (285/65/r18) would require lifting. Isn't there a metric size tire that would be equivilent to the next step that won't cause any rubbing?

Thanks.

This section is more of a "Hi my name is Joe" type thing. If you want info, try posting in the appropriate section. In your case, try either the 04-08 section, or for this question the wheels and tires section. You will find the answers you seek much more over there than you will here.
