2004 FX4 First Truck Just Finished Alpine Sound SYStem

Hi All,

I am a new member and just purchased my first truck a few weeks ago. I am 19 1/2 yrs old now. I have been wanting an F150 since before I was 18. In the time I have been drooling over your guys trucks. My truck is listed in my Garage with most of the mods.

I am not driving my truck yet due to the fact that I have to sell my Volkswagen first to transfer the plates. The Volkswagen is also listed in my garage. It is 2009 Jetta 45K with remaining warranty. Asking $13,500. Here in New York the license plates can be transfered as long as they are passenger vehicles.

So while waiting to get VW sold I decided to buy a Pioneer 4400 BH headunit for the truck. This unit has all the bells and whistles with the exception of Navigation. I was not about to spend hundreds more on a GPS feature I already have on my $50 smart phone.

The Headunit is GREAT. Wish I had it Sooner, because that Hurricane Sandy left us without power for 11 days.

Anyway, I purchased the headunit new off of Amazon for about $350. This was pretty much the best bang for your buck. With HD radio, Bluetooth, and DVD, you can't ask for much more. And plus you can custom pick the Illumination, so you can match up the radios buttons to the green buttons the f150 has.

Right after buying the Headunit, I found out I was eligable for the Amazon Credit Card. and I bought a full sound system, totaling about $1,800.00 including tools and wires. I probaly spent about another $50 on misc. items from Home Depot. ex: butt connectors

So the items I purchased and Installed myself in my F150 are:
Pioneer 4400bh
Alpine Type R 12" Shallow Subwoofer 600 Watts
Alpine Type R 6-3/4" Components 110 Watts
Alpine Type R 6" x 9" 100 Watts

Everything is hooked up to Alpine PDX-V9 5 Channel amp.

Haven't seen much reviews on this amp on youtube or web so I kind of took a chance with the fact knowing the previous model PDX-V5 has some problems.

So eventually i want to do a write up on the install and complete list of items i needed to puchase. But for now if anyone has questions or would like to see pictures, LET ME KNOW. I will be more than happy to help.

I am extremely happy with the setup, even coming from two DVC 10" Type R's with 1000 watts.

Thanks,
Garrett

Welcome to the forum.
Sounds like a heck of a system. I had a 3k Alpine system in a vehicle some time ago and took it out when i sold the car. Still have all the stuff in boxes in my closet.

Welcome to the Forum! I installed an Alpine System into a 1981 Pontiac Trans Am that I had it was kickin. Loved both the car and the sound system. Man, those were the days!

Thanks guys

Just sold the Jetta today to a local used car dealer. I got the trade-in value (10.5k) plus my last payment, which totaled to $10,754.00 (which is what I owed, purchased car in Jan 2012). The reason I first bought this car was because my Lincoln needed almost $1000.00 in repairs just after i spent about $750.00 in repairs and about $1000.00 once every month for something else. I was planning on purchasing an f150 2009-2012 for somewhere around 30k, but for less than half the price I got the '04 loaded out with all the goodies, and no financing. Been saving up since before I was 18. I know I could have done better in selling Jetta myself, but I'm anxious to drive the truck. LOL. Anyways DMV here I come, bright and early monday morning.
