Hey All,
Just picked up my 2012 F150 XTR Crewcab 5.0 4x4 with 3.55 gears.
I went to the dealership looking for an ecoboost and test drove both engines, but the 5.0 rumble and steady torque curve really stood out to me. I have a lead foot so I feel my mileage wont be much worse with the V8.
Loving the truck so far! Was originally getting 14 mpg mixed during break in but have recently bumped that up to 17 mixed and 19 highway! I NEVER get EPA estimates the way I drive, but I sure am in this truck. Seems like they sandbagged the EPA and HP on this engine to me. The EPA is based on a 2wd with the most economical gears possible, I should not be able to get that with a 4x4 and 3.55's should I?
I love the 4.2 inch display, its really helping me get my mileage up. Sound system is not great, I am looking at options to replace this already. SYNC and Bluetooth audio seem to work well so i want to keep the factory look.
Took the truck to work on the dirt roads and it rides like its on the highway! couldnt believe the different over the 1999 XLT that I upgraded from!
One negative, my park brake sticks as per TBA 12-2-3. I am a bit ticked this wasnt fixed before being sold, truck was on the lot for a while before employee pricing. Minor hassle though on an otherwise perfect truck.
