Help! Mustang Bullitt Owner Looking for an F150

Howdy,

The guys at the Mustang Bullitt forum sent me here (I post there under the same username). I love my Ford and now want to get a pickup truck. All I know at this point is that I want the ability to haul a utility trailer for my motorcycle(s). My wife has a wagon that we typically use for small cargo, but we would now like to use a pickup instead.

I went to the F150 Ford website and saw ten models to choose from. Too many choices, so I'm lost and am looking for some help. Engine, trim packages, bed protection, etc. I am open to any suggestions as to appropriate models. I would also like to commute with the truck and put the Bullitt back in the garage as she used to be a garage queen.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Do you want 2wd or 4wd? How much power do you want, what kind of amenities, and is gas mileage important?

what do you want? An XLT SCREW would be perfect for you, but do you want to be classier?

The best *value* out there would be a 2wd XLT SuperCrew - with the 3.7 V6 or 5.0 V8.

For bed protection, take it to a Line-X dealer.

Have you looked at used 11s or 12s?

Well I have done a lot of research. I'm not going to buy new. No friggin' way am I going to pay more for a pickup truck than what I paid for the Mustang Bullitt. I guess I am old and out of touch. Pickup trucks now seem to be luxury toys. Do people even get these trucks dirty?

I got laughed at for asking if they had any manual transmission trucks. That's what I used to drive in the 70's. A Ford 250 Custom with a manual drive that belongs to my uncle. He still has it!

I'm gonna buy something old and fix it up myself. Maybe a Chevy K10. I just want a beater to commute to work, haul stuff, and throw stuff in the back. I can drop a new engine and wiring harness in there myself or at a local shop on the cheap.

If I wanna spend money and look cool and stuff I'll buy my wife a BMW and drive around with her, the hot blond.

I've worked the oil fields in South Texas. If I owned a King Ranch trim package on a truck, no way in hell I would drive that truck on the real King Ranch.

But thanks for the replies guys.

I'm honestly with you. I've lost interest in the next generations of vehicles. One day I want to restore a 1997 f250 crew cab long bed 7.3 on torredor red. Simple and reliable. Synch is needless and just another computer that's gonna go out of date and be stuck in the dash.
