Jeff T.

Morning to all,
I have a 1992 F150 5.0L Flairside. This truck has lived long and happy. I bought this truck in 1993. the valves have ALWAYS pinged under moderate exceleration. I have checked the timing, tried additives, different octanes. Ford shops tell me to use better gas. In other words they don't have a clue. Anyone out there had this problem?

Welcome to the site. Usually, retarding the timing a little or use of higher octane fuel will eliminate the pinging. It can be caused by carbon buildup, but if it did it from nearly new, that is probably not the cause.
