Bonjour Bastien,
What part of France are you in? I sepnt ~1 year in St. Cloud working for Dassault.
If I understand your question correctly, that is typically refered to as "Front Overhang". The actuall distance will be listed in your owner's manual.

I did not see very much of Strasbourg, I was on my way to Germany and Switzerland so I just drove through. The countryside and area seems to be pretty nice. I might try to make it back over to that area sometime.
Overall France is a nice place. I spent most of my time in Paris which was way too crowded for my personal taste. I come from a small city in Arkansas (USA) and felt cramped up with that many people around me. The smaller cities (Tour, Neims etc) in France were much nicer. On the weekends and holidays we would drive to other parts of France or other countries. Because of this I have actually seen quite a bit of Europe.
