Tissues. It has been discussed before but there is a special size box that will fit in there.

In the bench seats, you put in those "purse size" packs of Kleenex, in the Captains chairs, you have to find the travel size boxes. I found them at WalMart. They fit right in their respective holes.

I have the captain's chairs in my 98 and there is not place for tissue storage in the center console, unless you just throw a box in the bottom under the CD storage tray. In 98 the bottom of the lid is just plain, no place to store anything.

I think they must have changed the holder in the '03's.

I too was wondering what the slot under the lid was for, and when I read this thread, I tried the travel box of Klennex, but the holder is larger and the box falls out when you close the lid.

Any other ideas?

My 02 is a late build and actually had "2003 Model Year Only" stickers all over the inside before I took delivery. The console had one on it too. So I am sure mine is the same as a 2003. The Kleenex box you need isn't designated as "travel" size technically. They are hard to find around here, but there is a specific box size that fits perfectly into the opening in the lid. If I think about it, I will take a photo of it and post it here.

That would be great pw1981, I would post a pic of mine, but my wife has our digital camera with her and she is out of town until Tuesday. The box of Kleenex that I have that falls out of the compartment says "Kleenex Brand Travelers Tissue" on the box.

I did see that in the owners manual under center console, it lists tissue holder as one of the features, it also list a holder for a Palm Pilot/PDA, and I am not sure where that is at either.

DougS,

Here we go. Here is the empty tissue compartment:

And here is the full tissue compartment:

And here is a pic of the bottom of the tissue box:

The Kleenex package you are looking for are Kleenex JUNIORS they come in boxes of 65 2-ply tissues. I found them at Wal-Mart when I was able to locate them, but I am sure other places have them too. They usually have some sort of fancy design on the box that is anything but manly, but I was able to locate some with an American theme that work for me.

Hope that helps ya!

Thanks for the info, I'll have to check out Wal Mart the next time I am there. The box I have is the one "advertised" on the back of your Junior box, the Travelers, which is a smaller box (about 3/4 size of the Juniors).

Doug.
