Lumbar Broken
My lumbar support is broken in my truck, and I'd like to fix it. I think it was turned to far.......I've pulled the seat skin off, and the cable is fine on that end. How do I pull the **** side out? I can't find anything on "the other ford site".

I broke down today and figured it out. I'm a pretty handy guy - I'm an installer for Circuit City.....so I know my way around my truck.
I took my seat out ( I found out this wasn't nessesary later ) and figured out what was wrong with the lumbar setup. I found the cable was broken as I suspected. I took the paneling off the left side of the seat.....the **** has two small plastic clips molded into it. Just pry real fast, with moderate force...it'll pop right off. I called three dealerships, they all said they didn't now how the thing came off.
Next the recliner handle came off, and the handle on the back to flip the seat forward. There are two screws on the bottom of the seat that have to come out - they are in the left front......you'll see them if you look under there. In the back is a bigger clip - christmas tree type....pry it out. The panel should come out then.
The Tensioner is held in with two screws.
I fixed it by getting a bicycle brake cable that fit into the tensioner, ran the new cable through the factory cable housing, and attatched the cable at the top of the lumbar support. It you look at the support mechanism inside the seat there is a top and bottom bar that look almost identical. I looped the cable over the bar using the supportive tear drop shaped cable support (you can find them, and all the other hardware at Lowe's or any other store). Then I put two cable locks on the cable.....make sure the **** is turned all the way back ( I think) to let all of the cable out. I used two Vise Grips here - one to pull the cable nice and tight, and then the other to clamp both side together. Then tighten the two cable locks.
If you want/need pics I can show you......

PICS! PICS! I've been wanting to fix mine since it broke two years ago. The back wheel went off a curb, and SNAP! The bicycle cable sounds like a better deal, than $95 for the whole assembly from Ford. Especially since it's going to break again anyway?,,,,98
