Question Keyless entry

I bought a used 1998 F-150 Ext Cab and did not get keyless entry remotes with it. I'm not even sure it has the keyless entry system. How do I find out if it does have the system and if so, how can I get replacement remote controls for it..... Thanks in advance..... ricochet48

take it to a Ford dealer and have them de-code the VIN for you.

If you have keyless entry there will be a white box (Module) under your dash. Look against the firewall under the drivers side just to the left of your brake pedal. If you see this white box then you have factory installed keyless entry.

The best way to tell is to cycle the ignition switch from "Off" to "On" eight times (ending in the "On" position) within 10 seconds. If the door locks cycle then the module is there.

If they cycle all you'll have to do is buy the remotes!

Note: "Off" is one click clockwise after inserting the key and "On" is two clicks clockwise.

Good Luck... XLT_D.

Just went through this

I just went through this with a used 2000. What everyone says is right. If you have the white box under the dash, you should have it. I bought one at the dealer for 50 bucks, and they programmed it. No big deal.
