Small burn mark in seat...

Made a small burn mark in my seat the other day... im planning to buy some seat covers so this doesnt happen again but is there any quick and inexpensive way to get rid of the burn? the burn mark is right in the middle of the seat (where my *** goes)... and there are a bunch of seams around that area... i was wondering if it was possible to rip out the burnt section and sew a new section in? The seats are not leather... thanks in advance...

Easy fix

Colin:

That would be an easy fix for an uphostery shop...they probably have matching fabric and it would be easy to redo just the one section. You can do the hard work and take the seat apart yourself to save a little, however, uphostery shops do this kind of work all the time and they know how to get the seat apart very quickly. The main problem is down time...try to find a shop that has the time to do your work maybe by appointment...that way you don't have to wait around so much and you will get back on the road faster.

I've had whole seats done and it's amazing how the uphostery shops can match the factory look. I run a small fleet of Ford Crown Vic's and occasionally one of the bucket seats needs work. I've had the whole seat redone and it comes back looking like the other bucket in the car, except it's cleaner. Can't tell anything otherwise.

take a piece of fuzz from the carpet or the back of seat and super glue it in the hole!!! hides it to where no one will notice it!

I hate when that happens! I have been lucky in my truck to not have any burn marks in my seats, they are leather, and I have gone almost three years without messing any of the seats up. That is great for me! I would definitely hit an upholstry shop!

If it's vinyl, there are specialists around who can trim the hole, fill it and color and texture match it to the original.

I had a friend with an upholstery/vinyl repair shop and he redid the seats on my long gone 1970 Cougar. It looked exactly like it came from the factory.

I bought a new bottom (cloth only) from Ford for my XLT, which has the captain's chairs. Cost about $100.
