Ok, ive got a 2000 XLT, it came with ablack steering wheel and a black seering column. Yet every other part of the interior is tan. My dad just bought a 2001, XLT, with the same interior as mine, yet he got a tan wheel. whats the deal. what im really trying to ask is if anyone knows where i can get a tan steering wheel and column?

boy oh boy is it gonna cost you Is yours lariet? I believe the Lariets have tan wheels and the regular XLT has black.

 

F-150's have had all black steering wheels for a long time. Think back The only reason I can see is it won't show dirt as easily as a lighter color model. There was a member here who had the whole wheel and column redone in a carbon fiber finish, and it looked great. And also check out the "carbon fiber steering wheel" thread. It was expensive, but the effect was sharp!,,,,,98

 

you guys are telling me that all f-150s have black wheels unless its lariat. My dads is an XLT and it has the same steering wheel as my moms expedition. It is tan with a tan column.

 

Hummm don't know then. I had a lariat that had a tan wheel and I have had an expy that had a tan wheel but every other xlt that I have seen has a black wheel. all I do know is that if you want to buy another wheel it is gonna cost ya at least $400 Best of luck to you.

Ford had a couple of extra Tan wheels at the plant and threw one in a Tan truck...

 

My 2002 XLT came with a Tan leather (could be fake) steering wheel, but the steering column is black.

 

I have a Lariat with tan interior, and I got an all black steering wheel. Maybe the newer ones? Mine is a 97.

I thought the 01 and 02 XLT's got color-coordinated wheels and columns, before that they just got black. As for the Lariats, I had a '97 Lariat and it had the black wheel; I've got the identical truck to it now, except it's a '98, and it's got the tan leather wheel and tan column. It's one thing I liked about the '98 Lariats compared to the '97's. My '98 also has the signal mirrors that my '97 didn't. Anyway, hope this helped. Later!

 

The 97-2000 XLTs had a black steering wheel that wasn't leather wrapped.

The 2001-2002 XLTs have a leather wrapped, color matched wheel just like the Lariats. It was an upgraded feature for 2001.

I know the Lariats from at least 99 on up included the leather wrapped wheel, I'm not sure about 97 & 98 Lariats though.

As a side note. I still have the 98 to 2002 Dealer Installed Accessories brochures which show a black leather wrapped steering wheel as an accessory you could purchase to upgrade the basic XLT wheel, but it was black leather, not color matched.
