Faded Leather steering wheel
I have a 2000 F150 S/C Lariat with the tan leather. The steering wheel has lost its color at the top. It is now tan/black. Any ideas on how to make it look good again short of a new steering wheel? I bought it used so do not know how the wheel became discolored. It is from aprox 9 oclock to 1 oclock. Thanks for any tried and ture ideas.
SEM is the name of a company that makes dyes for leather and vinyl you can buy it at auto paint suppliers. It works pretty good and there are lots of different colors so matching it should be pretty easy. I don't know how long it would hold up though on a steering wheel.
Look in the phone book for leather or upholstery repair and you should find someplace that re- dyes leather. That would probably be your best bet.

Might be an idea for you, I just ordered one of these covers from www.wheelskins.com Check out the thread a couple above this one and look at the one guys cover that he got from the same place I think it looks pretty sweet.
i have the same problem, it was always there, but it seemed to get worse when cleaning it with leather cleaner (????) Ive just been planning on getting a navigator steering wheel, but I saw dogleg's steering wheel, and I want one of those! cause its just cheap die on the ford one, and i don't think too much will hold on for very long (purely opinion) just because it won't match when you overlap and shouldn't last as long as the origional. atleast i have an excuse to get a carbon fiber wheel.
If your truck is still in warranty I'd try to get it replaced by the dealership. I was in the service area talking to another F150 owner that was having his steering wheel replaced for that very same reason.
i bought a cheap steering wheel cover to prevent that. i didn't want to spend a lot on the cover either because at the time i always parked outside, and in 120 degree az heat i didn't want to fork out a lot for something that was going to dry out rigth away.
