Dirty Leather problem
Dirty Leather problem
I traded in my old truck on a new 2001 supercrew a few months ago. I love the new ride, but have a problem with the seats. Mine are medium parchment lariat seats, and I can't seem to keep the edge near the door clean. The entire seat surface stays clean exept for there, and it does it on both the driver and passenger side. Has anybody else had this problem, and is there any way to prevent it? I have tried meguirs and lexol cleaner and conditioner, but the problem returns in just a few days. Perhaps there is a product that helps prevent this that I am unware of, hopefully somebody has some ideas!
First of all, do you have nerf bars installed? If not, you might think about installing something to that effect. I have a 2001 SCAB with the same seats. When I was getting in and out from the ground, my seats were getting dirty on the outer edges. Installed the nerf bars and solved the problem. I might add that I'm 5'7". Just a suggestion.
later.

LariatCruiser,
I have the factory cab steps that come on the screw, but the problem still remains. I was hoping there was a product, such as scotch guard, but made for leather.

Same problem.
I picked up a can of the leather/safe vinyl cleaning and protection wipes and from Kmart. Cheap and easy to carry. Pull em as you need them. Once a week when I arrive at work I wipe the lower part of the driver seat and the steering wheel down and head to the office.
Indications are such that I am staying ahead of the problem for now.

Just thought I'd tell you my solution....I've used armor all cleaning wipes. Nice neat bottle of cloth wipes already soaked with a cleaner. They seem to be solving the problem for now...hopefully they are not damaging the leather.
