Should I delete the carpet on an XLT?
Should I delete the carpet on an XLT?
Is there any reason why I shouldn't get the vinyl flooring in an XLT instead of the carpet? (I save about $40 whoo whoo, note sarcasm)
I was thinking that carpetted floor mats and vinyl flooring would be the best combination.
Any comments?

Get the carpet and save your shins and ankles!
The carpet will help hold your floor mats in place.
The vinyl will allow the mat to slide around.
If you are using your right foot to set yourself in the seat then Bang! your foot slides up under the brake pedal and your ankle gets a new joint.
Even worse, use your left foot to push yourself up in the seat and your left shin will discover how well made the the parkingbrake pedal is made.
(This can happen even with carpet if your shoes are wet.)
I'm guessing that the carpet is laid over the vinyl? If you are keeping the truck for long time, wear the carpet out and take it out. You'll then have the new floor you would have had if you had saved the $40. I don't think you can find anything in aftermarket with total coverage for that price.
There may be some road noise advantages with the carpet too but, I am speculating.
Finally, the textile industry is hurting. If you opt for the carpet delete, you'll get three textile workers laid off.
(Ok, I'm speculating)

the carpet is not just laid over the vinyl, they are two seperate flooring systems. If you pull up the carpet in you F-150, you'll see some insulation, and then metal.
By the way, my messy brother had vinyl floors and after two years of spilling crap on the floor and never cleaning it up, we still weren't able to clean off the vinyl. it isn't ALWAYS as easy to clean as described
. Sometimes it stains!
I personally prefer the carpet because its quieter, it's more comfortable to rest knees/back on (dont ask, LOL). It also seems to insulate better and I like not having my floormats sliding all over the place like in my brothers F-150.
