seat buyer

I am looking for a 60/40 front seat to replace captain chairs. What is the best source for new seats?

Does Ford sell them through their parts dept? I'm sure they would be the most expensive.

How about aftermarket producers? Does anybody know of any?

e-bay and online ads are one thing (used), I'm wondering about new seats.

Thanks

Style

I'm looking to get a set of seats from llebroc (llebroc.com) to replace my captains chairs. They come with a 40/20/40 configuration for many of them, and many with cool add-ons (like massage, woohoo!) . I want a 40/20/40 because I like the ability to be seperated like a captains chair, but so I could still snuggle up with my date of choice without being uncomfy .

I've seen new take out seats on E-bay. I'm assuming that they were taken out of a brand new truck by a customizer so they should be just like new. Not only that but I'm sure you could sell your captain's chairs to get some of your money back. Good luck.

The best place to buy seats is a salvage yard....

I prowl around and over all the seats in the salvage yards. Some places have them in rows. Leather, Cloth, Buckets, 40/60, Manual, Six-Way Power, Reclining, Fold-Forward in every color imaginable. Most late model interiors are either gray, tan, black, blue or maroon. You can buy a $1,500 pair of seats for $600.

Regular cab pickups require a "Fold-Forward" seat like those that come out of wrecked Camaro/Firebirds. Other cars, like the Acura Legend and Honda Accord have nice leather seats that also fold forward.

If you look underneath the six-way powered seats, you'll find that all is required in most cases is a hot 12volt and ground wire to make it work like factory. So, don't let that stop you from having the best.

Many of these seats out of wrecks are in perfect condition. I fell in love with a Silver-Gray pair of Chrysler New Yorker Bucket Seats. They were in perfect condition with six-way power, lumbar adjust. and head rest. They wanted $600 for the pair. That's cheap when you price new ones. Of course, they have to be mounted in a pick up truck, which requires some engineering. But I think it's worth the trouble!!!
