Flexing / popping sound from glovebox!
My F-150 has the oddest popping sound coming from the glove-
box area. It happens all the time when I go over bumps, or am
just driving along. If it hasn't occurred in the last couple of
minutes, I know it's time &.............POP! POP!
I've opened the glovebox area & tried to tighten everything in
sight. I can go to the dealer if needed, any similar experiences on
this one?
Thanks in advance for any help!

However mine seems to happen a short while after turning on the A/C. I just assumed it was the ducting contracting from the temp. change etc. I also assumed that these parts would wear away the interference eventually and the noise would stop. I'll pay more attention now and see if it occurs other than with the A/C.

Same here....I also notice this when a temperature change occurs (A/C or Heat), but many times happens when neither heating or cooling are occuring. Can't figure this one out and looking forward to any new posts.

I have a F150 that does that also. I tried to tighten the screws as much as I can but it did not help. So I made them as loose as I could with out the cover coming off and that seems to help. Has anyone taken off the cover? Do you have any washers on the screws? I don't. But should they? Please it's driving me nuts.
I had a similar noise but more aboce glovebox. I removed the cover on top passenger side of dash (it is held on with spring clips) I found some elec. connectors that were flpping around mounted to dash frame taped i'm down and that stopped the noise might check that

Thanks for the info. Just a few questions about it. Do you mean on top of the dash? What about the airbag? Is it above the airbag. Thanks for any info you can give

My Expy has similar noises. They're annoying mostly because it's so quiet these little things seem big. I've noticed that it you have someone hold firm on different parts of the dash, they go away. But like many or you, I notice it with temp changes. Just the joy's of plastics I guess. It could be a lot worse.....
I hear a noise from the right side of the truck sometimes going over bumps or on a hard turn I aways thought it was something lose in the passenger door panel but you got me thinking it may be the glove box I once did a test and pulled everthiong out of the glove box and still heard the noise as I thought it might have been someting moving around in it since then I thought it was someting in the door pannle was lose and moving around.

I have a 2001 Supercrew and mine has done it since day 1. I though it was thermal as it does it more with the Air or Heat on.
It is driving me crazy and my dealer is a dumbas*.
It isn't just a little rattle - but sounds like a rock hitting the windshield. My dealer also has agreed it is unacceptable - but can't seem to fix it.
I've taken the glovebox completely off of it and it still does it.
I can push and pull on the dash and not make it do it. Only when driving.
I hope someone can figure it out before I go crazy.
This makes a very nice truck - a rattling piece of crap. I'm going to dump it as soon as I can break even on it.
This is definetely my last Ford. ( I say that every time) but honestly I have a Maxima with 150K on it that is quieter and more reliable.
Now I know why these things depreciate so fast. It's cause they fall apart so fast. I checked my trade in value the other day and I have lost over 1/3 of the inital cost in 11 months. Now that is holding your value.

I just traded it in on a new F250 SD/CC4X4. My dealer couldn't find or fix the problem. But it a F150 that was customized, I can't remember the name of the company that did it, stripes, power rear window, wood grain dash that kind of stuff. I don't know if that had anything to do with it. I got a better interest rate and better payment with the F250 anyway. Good luck, I mean it.

Happens here only in the winter, never in the summer, nor when i have the cab at full warm temp. When you think about the warmth - it can be deceiving. For instance, even half an hour or so after warming up the cab, the stick on the shifter can still feel rather cold. Just food for thought.
I knew I shouldn't have read this thread. Everytime I read about something like this, I get paranoid. Next time I'm in my truck, I'm going to be listening for this popping sound. It's like the exhaust system craclking and popping when it heats and cools. I never notice it until somebody here mentions it.
