Repair For spring loaded cup holder

I recently purchased a 2001 Supercrew F150 that has a couple of items that need fixed and I will try and post solutions as they are fixed. One of the first issues that was addressed was the broken spring loaded cup holder. I first tried to JB Weld the spring to the plastic but I did not note the material properties of the spring so gthe JB Weld did not add hear to the spring. Next I proceeded to drill holes where both of the plastic tabs that originally held the spring in place were located using a 9/64" drill bit. I then used two 1/8" aluminum pop rivets to attach the spring to the back of the tray. Do not use steel pop rivets because the yield stress of the metal is to high and you will probably break the plastic. I know some people have already posted other fixes to this problem and how to remove the cup holder but I figured I would go ahead and post this as an alternative for people to think about if they wanted to try it.
