Howdy, I am looking to paint my console and then clear coating it. Prefereably black. Would this get real hot? I live in Austin Texas so im assuming it would get a bit hot in summer. Anyone done this before? Any hints? Tips would be appreciated.

I went ahead and painted the console part behind the steering wheel. So far it has gone well. I had a hard time getting the vinyl off, but when i did, it looked real sharp. I used a file to scrape parralell then horizontal lines. I used an enamel based paint. Not sure if its going to work, but im going to try this piece for a month before I paint the rest.
