painting a center console to match

I have an 2004 FX4 with the black / "warm steel" (really a greyish silver) interior color, and the only center console I could find is tan / silver one. I'm hoping the two silvers match up enough so I don't have to paint them, but clearly I'm going to need to paint the tan parts black to get a match.

What's the best way to go about recoloring the console to match? Is the Duplicolor fabric and vinyl paint the way to go, or should I be looking at another product?

If you are talking about painting the plastic sides of the console, get Rustoleum Plastic paint from the local auto parts store. I used the black to paint a tan console to match my interior and it worked flawlessly.

I ended up using SEM paints. It was a PITA prepping the plastic, especially the pebble textured plastic since it's ABS and needed a strong adhesion promotion spray.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with it, even though it cost me about $50 in paint and prep products.
