Seat belt HELP needed
Well I decided to pull all the wires for my stereo into their final place this week and get it all organized. We removed the seats and pulled the carpet for the wire and this is where the problem came up.
The drivers seat belt was unbolted(2 bolts) from the side and just lifted up and laid on the roof. When we went to re-install it in the truck it had retracted about a foot more from installed position and locked itself. I can feed it more seat belt but cant pull any out. Its like it locked it self from a quick stop or accident and wont release. Anyone have a clue how this happened and more important know how to fix it. I lokked and looked and can`t figure it out or how to get it back to working. It was just unbolted from the floor and lifted up and laid on the roof, no drops or hits to it.
Any help on this would be appreciated before I have to take it to a dealer and explain how its a foot short of being bolted to the floor again......

Try holding it in roughly the same postition that it sits when bolted down. then gently jiggle it and see if you can unlock it. It may take several tries. Did the same thing to me, took almost an hour to unlock it.
Good old inertia reels, they will give you fits sometimes. Shark99 has the right idea, the seat has to be in the upright bolted in position. I had this happen to me once when I worked at a resto shop. I finally figured it out
Once you have the seat upright, feed the belt slowly in,then pull out VERY slowly and it should release

Shark99, 98SCREAMER,
Thanks for the idea guys but I tried that. It was in the right position and I wiggled, jiggled and pulled and no go. Went to a dealer nearby here in VA (on vacation) and they ordered me a new one without even looking at it. They are going to replace it under warranty at no charge luckily. Guess it was agood trade off for getting the stereo stuff in
98 Screamer, nice talking to you again and thanks for the help once again!!!
