Question What an mess!!!

So the weather here has broke and yesterday it was arount 65. After a long winter, I desided that after work to go get my carpets and seats cleaned. I stopped off at a local car wash, the lady said that it was no big deal and the price was great so I desided to go ahead and let them do it.
I was there a little while and I noticed a person that looked like he might be in charge walking over to my truck and looking inside. Then came two more people and they all gathered around my truck. I walked over not knowing if there was a proublem with a stain or if it was just them checking on the progress.
And then the mess started... an older man called over to me to come to my truck and asked, "do you see what this thing did?". I looked at my seats and noticed lines running across the middle seat, seat back, and the lid to the center armrest. Well, the guy cleaning the drivers side of the truck was pressing the wand into the seat and it was snagging the treads in the seats. It was like pulling a string in a pair of dress pants. While the seats were wet, it was noticable, now its noticable but Im able to deal with it. (Hell its a 5 yr old truck) The owner told me that he would take care of it and gave me the name of a local place that could redo the seat.

Well, after spending the better part of 2 hrs at that shop, the guy gives me my quote. He said it would be around 175.00 to redo the seat. I called the owner and told him that Id stop out today to talk to him after I showed my wife and we desided what to do.

The bi ch that was at the counter told me that "we are very busy, and he (owner) couldnt meet with me. I explained to her that he had told me to come out. So then she feels the need to look at the quote and pass judgement on the price, making comments that she didnt feel that the price was fair. Then came to owner and I explained to him that since the truck was an 05 I wasnt sure the new work would match the old work and was just going to drive it a while and then deside. Then to my shock he said well, Ill give you 100.00. NO, the quote is for 175, I was then told that since i wasnt going to get it fixed he wasnt going to give me the full amount.
After thinking about it for a second, and against the cashiers, He tells her to write the check for the full amount.

Should I feel bad about maybe not getting it fixed???

No. You got your money - it's up to you what you do with it.

I would have been a lot harsher than you were, don't feel the slightest bit bad about it. Any decent business should take responsibility for their mistakes, and a detailing shop should know that mistakes happen and be prepared to deal with it properly. Really sorry to hear this happened to you though, hope you come up with a good way to fix it.

Don't feel bad at all. This is the problem these days with poor customer service...no wonder so many businesses fail within five years. It's also a wonder how so many stay in business treating the customer like they don't matter. You had the full amount coming to you and what you do with it is your business.

your truck....your decision
they are paying you for what they did wrong, now its up to you whether or not to fix what they did, or just get something to make you forget about it.
