I am looking for some assistance. I want to be able to lock my truck while it is running to warm up in cold climates. I cannot figure it out.

Also trying to figure out how to turn off the headlights while it is running.

I hope someone out there can help me

Turn the headlight switch from auto to off. As far as I know, I don't think you can use the keyless entry system while the truck is running to unlock. You have to use a spare key.

 

What year is your truck? Do you have keyless entry?

I did have to chuckle to myself a little about the head light part... "Turn the switch to off"

Before I installed a remote starter, I would remove my key from the keyring or use the second key and start the truck and then lock it using the key fob. The remote start is nice.

 

im not sure what year you have, but on my 04 i can start it up shut the door and lock it by pressing the 7-8 9-0 keys at the same time and unlock it by entering my code.

 

i have a '99 and i was wondering this same thing. apparently the DRL are awalys on even with the parking brake applied. i was hoping to find a way to lock the key in there without the spare set just with the FOB.

 

on my '04 if you use the power lock button with the engine running, the door will automatically unlock. But if you lock the door by manually pushing the lock down the door will remain locked, and you can unlock it with either the door keypad or the key fob
