Baby Seat Question
Baby Seat Question
All, I'm looking at 04-08 F-150 to purchase. Does the Supercab have room in the rear (Practically and legally) for an infant seat, and does it have the safety eye hook latches for attachment?
Thanks in advance for any info.

plenty of room for a baby seat...not so sure about the safety latches...don't use it and never looked..
my 3 yr old nephew and 1.5 yr old neice both ride comfortably in the back seat in their seats and I and the passenger have more than enough room.
my cousins 5 month old baby fits in the back in her seat too and still no room problems for us up front..

Legally yes, practically,no. My wife has to sit with her knees almost into the dash with our 5 year old. He's even into a booster seat without the back. It's been that way for the last couple of years. She had reservations about the size in the back seat when I bought the truck and pretty soon after I did I was wishing I'd bought a SuperCrew. I was bent on buying the truck I have though...
Thanks for sharing roaddog & penguin. I'm going to look at one tonight so this was helpful - if the answer was no; I wouldn't waste the time.
I may become a permanent member here depending on the outcome. Thanks again.

I am a certified Car Seat Technician(Safe Kids International). There is plenty of room, and it is definately legal to have a car seat on the rear bench. I have done many installations in '05 Supercabs and I work with someone who has a 5 y/o who rides in a booster seat without any problem in an '05 Supercab. If your passenger has long legs, someone will definately have to sacrifice...but that is a decision that you will have to make. All vehicles produced/sold in the United States after 2002 must have at least 1 position in the passenger compartment with LATCH(those safety clips you mentioned). Ford provides 2 in the rear of the supercab in the outboard positions(none in the center). Make sure you read your owners manual or see a technician about running the top tether, because it is unique to Fords(but not hard to do).
From personal experience, I'd say go for the Super Crew. I have the Super Cab with a 5 year old and a 2 year old. As far as safety, I feel that they are both safe in the back with the 5 year old in a booster and the 2 year old in a car seat, but my wife who is 5'5" has to move the seat up to allow leg/foot room for the 2 year old. I'm 6'6" and have to have the seat all the way back which leaves a very cramped space for the 5 year old in a booster who sits behind me. I love my truck, but regret not going with the super cab to give the kids more leg room.
