Electronic climate control???

Does anyone know where I can get one and the radio bezel to accomidate one? I have an XLT that I would like to replace the 3 **** controller with the neater-looking electronic one. I do understand that the radio bezel needs to be replaced, but where can I get those besides the dealer? I've tried doing google searches, ebay, craig's list, and I've found nothing. Anyone know any places online?

You do understand I hope that both units use different male/female connectors on the vacumn lines. You will need to not only get ahold of the electronic connector but find a way to install it on the 5 vacumn lines

I wasn't aware that the 3-**** style ran vacuum lines. Mine only has two wiring harnesses, and from what I checked, connected to an electronic unit just fine. My local Ford dealer told me that I should have the rear defroster installed for it to work "properly" (which they told me they could do for $600), then the control unit would cost almost $200 then $60 to install. I was then told by an independent technician that I didn't need defrosters and it would work fine, just plug and play.

there is way more to it than just plugging in the unit and changing the face.
Those guys probably wanted you to invest in most of it first then were gonna drop more charges on you.

The electronic HVAC has to have an external temp sensor that fits in the cluster surround, and all the associated wiring harnesse to connect that sensor to the unit. (which i was told by the lead tech at my dealer was built into the dash harness for the trucks with that equipment) I believe it also requires one other electrical component im just drawing a blank at the moment to what it is. And the wiring for the unit may be slightly different. That is on top of the unit itself, the center bezel, and the steering wheel control buttons and wiring them to the unit since your XLT wont have that wire.
Its a little more involved than just buying the electric unit and plugging it in, i looked into getting this done late in 06 but i cant remember all that was involved now. I suggest you do a little more investigating before you drop the money for a unit.

Im interested in doing this mod as well, if anybody could post a good pic of what the electronic climate control looks like that would be great. I used to build alot of import cars and some domestic stuff as well and I was the first person to retro fit a jdm digital climate control into a usa car. The stock unit had 14 wires, the jdm one had 40! Usually with the electronic climate controls there will be a inside temp sensor, outside temp sensor, sunlight sensor, evap sensor, plus the air mix controls may require an extra motor, also may require a different hot water valve. I havent started to to do any research yet on this but if people can post pics of the above mentioned parts I will figure out what it takes to make this work and do a write up. If anybody has a truck they are parting out donations of mentioned parts would help in getting a write up done.
