Arm rest / console

I have an 08, 2 door with a 40:20:40 front seat. It came equipped with a simple padded armrest that folds up, between the front seats. The arm rest has no storage space inside. I have found a Ford part number for a "center console" that has cup holders and storage space within. But I can't find, nor can Ford provide, information on whether the arm rest and console are interchangable. The arm rest is held in by 2 5/16" bolts on the right side. These are under a plastic molding held in place by a single screw. There is a single Tork head screw on the left side, under a plastic molding that snaps in place. Has anyone done this swap before? Are they interchangable? Or, can someone with a center console tell me if it mounts in this fashion?

I'm prepared to buy the console, but if it doesn't mount correctly, Ford will not take it back.

I appreciate any help and or advice.

Thanks in advance,

AJMatt

the top portion of the center seat should be interchangable. I removed mine to install leather and i recall it being just exactly as you described. Mine has the cupholders and center console area.

How did this work out for you? What was the price on the console from the stealership?

Did not get much help from this board. Through other efforts, I found the storage console does mount the same as the arm rest, as I described. Ford lists the storage console for about $410, but you can buy cheaper if you search Ford dealers online. Bought the console, but found out the "pivot pin" on the left side of the armrest was not removable. So I had to tap that hole out on the new storage console and fabricate my own pivot pin and thread it in place. Works great, glad I did it.

Should have checked Ebay or the classifieds here. An advanced search with the words jump seat would have yielded results.

Sorry you feel you didn't get any help on this board. I've always found everything I've needed through this site's search feature.
