I installed the switches for my emergency lights in the over head console where the garage door opener would go. Since I do not have a garage the compartment was useless. Now, my switches are hidden and I love it!

It was a pain to do all the extra work but I knew I would only do it once so I did it the right way.

They aren't lined up perfectly.. which bothers me, so I'm going to redo it so they do. I bought the switches from www.Oznium.com because no body around here had any that I really liked.

They only real problem that I had during the install was that there is not much room behind that panel before the other compartment begins, so there is a 'wall' right behind the panel that I mounted them to. To overcome this, I soldered the wires directly to the male spades on the switch. And if I did it again, I would solder them at a 90* angle instead of directly behind to make sure there was plenty of clearance. As I said, I will be doing it again to make it right.

Sorry for the bad quality, I had the camera on the wrong setting.

thats a good idea. i think they came out great and its a great place to put them if you dont want themm to show. the only thing that would bother me is having to open up that door and then push the switches...but i am just lazy like that and on a different note, i was actually thinking about putting one of those over head compartments on my truck...i have an OLD tv up there right now and the previous owners drilled THROUGH the roof to mount it, so i have bolts sticking out the roof (the truck is so tall that you cant see it, but i know they are there ) so now i just have to figure out how to put one on my truck...

Wow... somebody needs to slap that man.

Thanks for the props!

The hidden concept works great for me because they are emergency lights and I don't need anybody turning them on out of curiosity. lol

Don't know if you are still looking for suggestions, but another switch could be for in-bed lighting, there are a number of threads on our site, im thinking about doing this as my next mod.

As for the screws, I would replace them with some fine-thread allen-head screws. With the location of the install you can't hide the fact that there are screws there, so dress them up. You could even put four in it, two top and two bottom, and make it look symmetrical. Then with the five switches across the center, the black and silver would contrast eachother well and make for a great looking mod. You can pick up the screws at home depot or lowes...hell wal mart may even have some.

yea i was thinking about doing in-bed lighting also but i was actually thinking about putting that switch in my tool box...that way it is closer to the bed so i dont have to go all the way to the cab to turn it on (especially being that it is such an effort getting in and out of my truck )

but the screw idea is a great idea...i never thought about allen head screws...im gonna be on the look out for that...and yea i think putting screws on the bottom would help it look symetrical. Thanks for the ideas!

well i actually have 3 switches on it now. here is what it looks like:

i dont have a day picture of them yet...and yes i changed the color of my A/C controls check out my other thread for the write up on how i did it.

but the switch is for LED lights under the dash board. I dont have pictures of them yet because i am going to get new ones...they are not bright enough for me...you cant really even see them on the ground when they are on.

so that is just my update.

Here are my switches. I was going to do the radio kit but my peice was already broken off the back of here so it didnt look right anyways so I just drilled out the holes and put in the switches! I just have to get something to take off the letters for the airbag now! My switches are for aux lights on bull bar and factory fogs.
