has anyone installed a black headliner in their 04-08 truck? mine came with a like a light tan and black would look so much cooler n have a stealthed out appearance. i would also like to pain the dash, those plastic pieces are in gray. everything else in my interior is black. has anyone done this before?

You can do these projects yourself. Fairly simple R & R process for the headliner but remember that a dark headliner will give more of a closed in feel to your truck as opposed to the lighter one. One note on painting the plastic. I use SEM Color Coat paint (available at lots of auto paint stores) exclusively. It holds up the best that I've found. Also use plastic prep before painting.

We did a black faux suede liner in Jwool15's trucks, no pics tho
it turned out pretty good, we will see how long it holds up. I like it, might do mine later. Still need to finish wrapping his damn visors

You Know i've been thinking of doing this for the longest time i just havent done it. My plans were to Black the headliner aswell and than the gray pieces, i was going to paint it a high gloss like the Harley 150. My only problem is that im worried il break some plastic in the removal process.
we think alike
yeah i hear ya that it might break, i would take my time and not rush it, at all.
im afraid it'll chip off the paint and i'll have to take apart the whole dash again

could u take pics?
Yeahh we do and im not soo worried about chipping it on the way in its just breaking it on the way out and letting the stealership take whatever amount of dollars out of my pocket. I mean 3 base coats and about 4 to 5 clear generally wont chip if you do it the right way. If you find anything on this please send it my way if you can im sure you know how i feel. I WANNA GET THIS DONE.

hahaha. idk what kind of prep to do.
Its easy and cheap. Take a fine sand paper(150to120) and just sand your surface than get yourself some Adhesive Promoter let it sit for about thirty seconds and take the sand paper and bloch it on the promoter. This will give the base a little more grab. than just follow the can directions with base. i do atleast 3 coats of base than like 4-5 clears im sure you can get away with less but my ocd kicks in with stuff like that.I've painted plastic before and if you do it correctly it really comes out great
Hope i didnt go over board just throwin my .02 cents in

i thought about recovering the headliner black, but for some reason the sunroof has me worried. also, there's trim that would have to be replaced, like the sunroof opening trim and the map light.
in my cobra, i used fabric paint to change the color of the carpet in the trunk from gray to black. turned out really well.

what would make a Black headliner pimp, and not give that closed in feel might be to find a really good airbrush artist and put a few well placed stars (not the shape of a star, but the ones you see in the sky at night)
dono i just woke up so that may be too off the wall
