Trim Removal Question

I posted this in the Super Crew section but didn't get any responses, so I thought I would try for a wider exposure. Of course, it may be as simple as no one has tried to take this part apart - but here goes:

"... I was trying to remove the map light assembly from the headliner in my '06 screw. I have a sun roof, so I don't have the information center, just a little unit with two map lights and the switch that operates the sun roof. I was trying to pop this unit out of the headliner so I could tap in to the switched power going to the sun roof. I want to hard wire a backup camera display that I have mounted on the corner of my rear view mirror. I realize I was probably being over cautious, trying not to break anything, but I couldn't get the unit to pop out. Is there any hidden catch, or do I just need to pry on it with a flat tool (putty knife, etc.) till it pops loose? Any "been there, done that" info would be greatly appreciated. TIA"

Don't hold me to this but I could've swore I read somewhere that you just have to get a good grip around the edges of it and give it a good tug and it will pop off.

Thank you!

If anyone else has any actual experience, please step in.

Used a putty knife/scraper and just kept prying gently. The piece is held on by two metal friction catches. Now I have my backup camera wired in.

Thanks again.

Good to hear it worked for ya. I had the same problem when my map bulbs burnt out...I was amazed at how hard i had to pull on it, but having taken off and put back on just about every other peice of trim in the interior, i found that most of the peices are fastened with those metal tabs.
