Jump seat leather install
Jump seat leather install
I just spent the last few hours reading almost every post on installing leather seats. I have a set coming this week. I think with everything I have read, I am ready to tackle the seats. What I could not find is anyone who posted how to swap the cloth for leather on the console for the center jump seat. Has anyone done this that can give me a few tips or direct me to a post where someone else did. I've tried multiple searchs and still could not find anything. BTW, I picked up the entire set for $420 shipped from a guy on E-bay for my Super Crew. This is the cheapest price I have found. Thanks!
The Jump Seats are all the same (plastic) except for the Lid which can be Cloth or Leather. Your best bet is to find a Leather lid and just swap it over.
By the way, I did the exact same swap to my '06 SuperCrew that you are going to do. Cant believe the difference! You probably should be looking for the Ford Service Manual to help you out in your Swap..

Take the jump seat out of the truck, remove the cover assembly from the seat and lay out on a table. Have with you some small pry tools and some pliers. Start disassembling the cover and remember how you took it apart and in what order. The whole process should take you a little over an hour. Be careful with the ring that holds the cover in place. A little tip that I used on the cover itself was to get a can of Super 77 spray adhesive and apply it to both the cover top and the leather for the cover top. Holds it tight and makes for a nice clean looking install. Remember to always dry fit and to measure 3 times before you cut. Good Luck
I have my leather waiting in a box in my room to install, and i just tried to take my jumpseat console apart. I took the two torx screws holding the clasp off, thinking that the rest would simply pry off, and i broke just about every clip on the pass side before i got a clear view of what kind of clips they are.
Its near impossible to get to the clips with any type of prying tool, there has to be about ten of them on each side. Its also a pain to hold the two halves apart since each side has small plastic teeth that hold the cloth tight.
Any ford techs want to get a detailed description on how the hell to remove the console cover on the jumpseat in an xlt? Or do i have to break the clips and just buy a new bottom piece for the console?
Ok i think i found a good writeup
Thanks to goslow i think i feel better about breaking my pass side clips... he did the same and seems to have worked out ok for him
