Does dynomat and the other sound deadening materials prevent sound from the outdside coming in, because my truck is very loud on the inside from my tires and it also sounds very windy. Could it just be the molding on my door is old and not getting a good seal. What have you guys done to make your cabin quieter?

 

Sounds like your Door Weatherstriping may be getting old (drying out and shrinking) allowing the outside noise to get to the interior of your truck...
Try to isolate the specific area where you think the noise may be coming from and give that area a good inspection...

 

Does Dynomatting or any of the other sound products make a difference in prevent exterior noise from entering?

 

if done properly and with enough material then yes dynomat or any generic sound deadener works wonders...thats part of what sets luxury cars apart from normal cars is the amount of sound deadening used on their cabins...close the door on almost any new luxury car or even an older one and you experience immediate quiet. To do it properly you should do the floorpan, roof, doors, firewall, and the backwall...and then go and do the underside of the hood and the front side of the firewall by the engine if you can manage it...it will cost you and take a good bit of time but you will honestly be absolutely amazed by the results... if you dont wanna do everything at the very least do your floor and doors and interior firewall and backwall... the roof and engine bay I would save for last

 

Does it have to be dynomat or can I use fatmat or another type. I hear that fatmat will fall off of the roof, but What if I'm only going to do the floor doors firewall and backwall, would it really matter if it stayed on? isn't it going to be inside anyways, so shouldn't it be kinda pinned between the panel of the door and the door itself

 

I've used fatmat before and its a pain to work with and not the stickiest of deadeners. I'd say you'd be fine using it for the floor, I'd use something different for the doors/firewall/backwall though. Check into either of these two, the first is pretty cheap:

As said before, aslong as you do a good job and get good coverage, deadening can make a hell of a difference.

 

eDead from Elemental Designs has gotten some good reviews as well. and normally has a pretty good price.

 

So I never really got around to doing this, and I found my old post and I am wondering, how many square feet will I need for an 03 supercab to deaden the floor, doors, backwall, and firewall?

I have only done my doors, but I think it took about 6 sq. ft. to do 1 door. Just the 4 doors made a big difference in my '00 supercab.

 

did you do the door and the panel on the door?

 

I had a guy at a Ford dealer tell me that Turtle Wax F21 Super Protectant will bring those right back to life.

If the rubber is gone, no protectant will "bring it back to life." A protectant can and should be used though to make them last longer.
