Installed Heat in my FX4 Seats

Just an FYI,
For anyone thinking about it, I just installed heated seats in my 2005 FX4. I have the bucket sport cloth seats. I bought 4 sets for $225 shipped (buy 3 @ $75 get one free). I did my F150 and my wifes Accord. They are Warm Seat brand I got off Ebay. They claim they are the same as the factory installs. They are Carbon mesh and pretty easy to install between the upholstery and cushion.

It took about 2.5 hours to do both front seats in the FX4. Basically I:
1) remove the seats (You need a T-50 Torx bit)
2) remove upholstery(on the butt only), you can slide then element up on the backs without removing the upholstery)
3) Tape to cushions
4) reinstall uphosltery
5) reinstall seats
6) mount switch
7) Ground to seat bolt
8) run power to fuse box (I bought fuse taps to make it easier)

Each kit came with butt and back elements. The upholstery was so much easier to take out and reinstall on the truck than my wife's accord. The button looks like the factory and I mounted them in the accessory panel on either side of the cigarette lighter. You only have to install ground and power. I tapped Radio and Overhead power (they are switched so you won't drain the battery if you leave them on).

I live in MN so these are worth every penny (- 10 degrees, -40 degrees windchill tonight) Anyway, thought I'd share my experience. Easy job for someone with only radio install experience.

Leather

I'd assume it would be the same for leather.

Yes, pretty clear, I had 2 sets, theirs and one from another vendor, but same heaters. You can easily do it with the ones included. If you are only doing the F150, they were very easy to do. The Honda was tougher. As I said, the backs you can just pull that tape back and slide them up without removing the fabric. The bottoms removed easily.

Can you feel the heater in the seat? As in, does it change the comfort of the seat at all?

I would love to do this also. Can you upload some pics of the finish work or at least at the points that needed to be pulled back to install the heaters. Also if I bought the factory heated seat buttons do you think that I could pull this off. I would love to install the factoryu buttons in the factory location.

Your dealer will have the factory switches but they go on the outside of the cluster and im sure you already have things their like the A/C and possibly heated mirrors. Im looking into other locations also. Pics would be great of aftermarket heated seat switches

Here is where I put my switches in my 05 FX4 Screw. Brand was "check corporation". 3 position switch.
