Seat Cleaning

A couple days ago i spilled kind of alot of a drink onto the bottom part of my passenger side seat and it soaked all the way through the foam onto the carpet. Im wondering if anyone has any tips on how to clean it? I was thinking since it soaked all the way through, to take the whole seat out and rinse it real good with water, then clean the carpet beneath it, then blow dry the foam to get it dry. Will this work? Also Should i take the seat out from the bracket on the ground with the huge torx screws or remove it from underneath the seat by the nuts under there? Any help/tips appreciated.

the "nuts" on the underside are welded to the body. you have to pull the torx bolts out.

You can try to steam clean the covers and carpet once you have everything apart. You can rinse the foam out, but give it a couple days in the sun before you put it back in to make sure its super dry. You dont want a musty smelling truck when you are done.

Test the steam cleaner settings in a hidden corner before you do the whole seat.

Ok, thanks. I tried to take the bottom seat cover off, but its attached to the foam by a wire thing. Any way to separate them? Also is there a way to separate the bottom part of the seat from the back?

what year truck?

The covers should be "stretched" on and have long white clips the length of the seat material that clip under the seat.

Unbolt the seat first and then mess with the covers. I think once you get the covers off, the foam pops off, and then you can unbolt the frame halves. Pull the headrest off to get the top cover off. Also the plastic slides that the headrest go into can be popped out, but be careful with them

Its an '01 with "captains chairs" but yea, the seat cover has those long white clips that clip under the seat. So if i remove the seat and take both of those off, the cover should pop off with the foam? Also, what should i use to remove the torx screws? The heads on those things are huge....

get a rack of torx bits from your local auto parts, it should be around 20 bucks. they should click right into a 1/2" or 3/8" drive like a socket. The one you need will be on a 1/2" rachet drive. Also you will want about a 3" extension if you dont already have one.

start with pulling the bottom cover first, then do the back
