passenger airbag off

I have a 2008 F150 Screw. When I start the truck a lite in the top middle of the dash says "passenger airbag off" for a few seconds and then the light goes off. I cannot find how to turn this airbag on. My 1997 f150 had a place for the key on the dash to turn the airbag on and off. I don't see anything like this in my 2008. Is this light just something that comes on and then goes off when the airbag comes on, or do I have to physically do something to turn it on?

It goes by the weight of the passenger and automatically turns off. when appropriate

The light always cycles when you start it.

Great, Technology has come a long way in 11 years from a key to automatically turning off by sensing weight. Man I'm getting old fast.

Thanks STX

I thought the same thing when I got my '05.

I went from a 97 with the key. Had me confused until my daughter rode in the front seat one day. Then it all made sense. LOL.

Funny things is, sometimes it turns off on my wife too. I told her she needs to eat more. LMAO!

I've been there/done that too!

That light was required on all vehicles in '03 or '04 i believe - have someone ride with you in the passenger seat then hold themselves off of the seat for a few seconds - the light will come on then go back off. This way if there is no one in the seat the bag will not deploy and if they are too "light" it will not come on to harm them.
