The easiest way is to pull the ashtray out until it stops, use two long screwdrivers to press downward, the tabs at the back of the unit that keep the tray from pulling out. You can see them easily with a flashlight if you lean in from the passenger side of the truck while your feet are still on the ground.

My only suggestion is to find out why. I assume it was working before(?) I've had mine out about ten times, so taking it out won't cause it to stop working, unless of course something broke in the process.

cup holder spring/clip fix

Spring on cup holder is held in place with 2 small plastic buttons. Mine was broken also. Dealer said no fix you have to buy the part.$89 bucks. My friends
supercrew holder was broken also. He sanded 2 small buttons flat, the spring/clip has 2 holes where the buttons are/were. He drilled 2 small holes with a #30 drill bit and attached clip with screws. it worked. He fixed mine in less than ten mins. Don't forget to hook up light before you put holder back on. You can make friends fixing your coworkers cup holders. We did
Fixed 3 cup holder during lunch today.................

I drilled two holes and then used a pop rivet gun to put the metal spring back on.
