Cleaning seats

My wife was driving my truck and spilt something on my seats. I have cloth seats. It looks like a soft drink stain because there was some spilt drink in the cup holder. What is the best to clean the spot with? Is it safe to use oxy-clean on the spot? What do you recommend cleaning it with? Thanks for the help.

Andrew

I just cleaned all the seats in my truck. I had a lot of dust in there from drywall work and carpentry. What I did, and what works the best for me (I've tried a lot of cleaners) is dish soap and water mixed in a bucket and I just soak the seats with a hard brush and brush the soapy water in, the suck everything up with a shopvac. Comes out cleaner than any cleaner I tried

Turtle wax makes a cloth seat cleaner and I have a bottle on hand with me at all times. It seems to work the best for me. Also dont forget to put some scotch gaurd on the seats. I usually put it on as soon as I clean them, I think that it works better if it is applied when the seats are still a little wet.

Simoniz upholstery cleaner works for me. Just spray the seat, work it in with a stiff brush and let it dry. If the stain has been there for awhile it may take more then one application but I've found it works well.

I second th Scotch Guarding of the seats. After I clean them, I normally Scotch Guard them (at least twice a year.)

Definitely extract whatever you use with a shopvac - whatever spilled soaked in and might have a tendency to reappear after you clean by wicking up if it's deep in the seat. Extracting thoroughly will lessen the chances of that happening. As with most things I think it's best to start with the least aggressive method and progress from there. If it's just a pop spill I bet you'd be amazed what some really hot water would do in getting it out.

I use Hoover Spot & Stain cleaner. Picked it up at Lowes. While you're there get some Scotchguard. It works.

This is the stuff I use. It was reviewed on the Obsessed Car Detailer web-site as their number one choice. I use it in the house it works so well and ya don't have to go looking for a separate brush, it's on the cap.
