Tranny Temp Gauge

I own a 92 F-150 with the 300 straight 6. I mounted my tranny temp gauge last night. Here are a couple pics of it. Btw I have more pics of my truck and I'll start posting them shortly

If you want I have a cardomain page with my truck on it. its www.cardomain.com/id/niteshadow82
I also own a 91 grand am which is also on the same cardomain as my truck.

I like how you have it mounted in the dash. I am getting ready to install one also. But it will be mounted on the pillar in a pod. No other place to put it really....

thanks for the comments! I wasn't sure about my location at first but then after I thought about it I figured it would look good there. I'm not sure how the interiors are on the newer fords but I have seen some newer ford interiors with gauges mounted in the dash but not sure how it was done. I'll see if I can find some pics later today

Nice.

Here's mine mounted in the dash. Mine's a 2-wheel drive so there is this dumb coin holder thing that was there, it's almost a perfect fit. You only have to dremel out a small amount to make it fit right. Now, I think it looks as though it came with it.

JeremyGSU that looks awesome! Too bad mine is a 4x4 and I have a switch there. I have a panel on order that replaces my ashtray and holds three gauges. Should get it this week. It is a little low on the dash but I think it will look good when it is done. Awesome idea on your part though.

Looks nice, how did you install it? I have an 06 4WD and need a gauge for towing myself. Did you have it done or have a shop do it. If so who did you go to? A Tranny shop?

00Ford4X4 you have an edge programmer in your photo, doesn't the programmer have a transmission temp readout as one of it's options?

Does it not tell you the temperature at the location you want and that's why you want another gauge?

Thanks man. I can't take 100% of the credit. My buddy and I were toying with where to put it and it was actually his idea.

Mine actually had dead wires behind the coin holder that were stuck to it. Didn't really know what they were for as it is 4 X 2, but they were still there.

I must confess, I had it installed. However, I had it done my way. I took it to a truck performance shop in Orlando. Before I took it there I popped off the coin holder to test if it would fit. It seemed like it would fit without the casing it came with so when I went there I told them that's where I wanted it. They wanted to do a pillar mount but I insisted they do it there or don't do it at all.

Luckily, this place installed stereos as well because of the two tech's only one knew how to dismantle the dash board to make it work. Looking back I probably could have done this if I wasn't lazy. I've traced the all the way to the side of the transmission where it's mounted to see how it was done, but alas I am lazy.

And I'm not trying to steal the thread from the original poster! I only posted this because he had mentioned seeing ones in newer F-150's.

I believe only the 04 and on Ford Edge programmers can show you trans temp. Mine does not, even though its advertised that way.
