Can anyone give me a quick download of what I'll be getting into if I change out my bench seat for a 60/40 with the folding arm rest? I have a 2001 F150, bench front and rear seats. Its the 7700 package also, if that changes anything. I really just want to know whats entailed, and if the replacements will fit in the same holes, etc.
Also, if you can provide a good source of replacement seats, that would help too. My current fabric is grey cloth, so if anyone has a trade in mind, let me know that as well. I'm in San Diego. Thanks in advance for any help.

 

I recently did this to my 99 Reg cab. I got my 60 40 seats on ebay, and I found grey seats were cheaper than tan (I needed tan ) The bench seat bolts down with 4 bolts, the 60 40 seat bolts with 8 bolts, so you'll need 4 new bolts. The bolts are metric and are two different sizes, depending on if they bolt just the seat or bolt the seat and a seat belt. All 8 holes are in the cab floor, with the 4 not used by the bench seat plugged and not threaded. I used two different sized metric taps to thread the unthreaded holes, but some people have have just cranked bolts into the unthreaded holes to make the threads. My truck has rubber flooring, so I carefully cut through it to expose the 4 plugged holes, in order to thread them (I didn't remove the flooring). The entire project took only a few hours to complete, and is the best thing I have done to my truck.

 

I went 60/40 to 40/40 with a center console in my rear bench. Everything lined up except one hole i had to make. Just drilled and tapped, but the floor was very thin there, so im going to go back and weld a nut to the underside of the truck for threads.

If someone ends up with an extra grey xlt fold down arm rest console (97-03) Let me know, im in the market for one.

Thanks, this is exactly what I needed to know. I looked at the bench seat I have now last night, and you're right, its held by four bolts. I have the rubber floors too so I can just find the spots and tap a new hole where its supposed to go. Sounds easy enough.
How much did you pay for your 60/40? I found on decent knock off brand for 500. I'd like to find a used set or OEM style replacement for less than that if possible. If anyone has any better sources, let me know please.

just watch on ebay, and be patient, ive seen whole benches 60/40 (non power) for like 350 plus 100-150 on shipping. If you wait even longer you might find one you can local pick up
