Question how to remove headrests

HELP!! I bought new seat covers for my '04 F-150 XL reg cab. I can't figure out how to remove the headrests so I can slide on the covers. Does anyone know how to get the darn things off??

there should be tabs at the base, then you push them in and pull up.

Thanks for response. When I push in the tabs, I can raise the headrests up and down, but I can't get them off.

you may just have to pull harder when they are al the way up.

1. Push in the button on the right side (when facing the back of the seat)
2. Lift head rest as far as it will go.
3. Push in the tab on the left side.
4. Lift a little while doing this and then push the button on the right.
5. Lift and they're off!

I have to do this all of the time with kid's seats.

Thanks Blueflareside

Thanks Blueflareside

I had even asked the dealer how to get them out and they did not know. It did strike me as strange that once I had the headrests out and went to put them back in that they seemed to be in backwards as the curve was on the backside of the headrest. Looked at the notches on the posts and the flat side does go forward. Strange. thanks again
