Instrument Cluster
I have a 1998 F150 XL 4x4 with a 4.6l and a 5spd. As it is the XL package it did not come with a tach. I have purchased an XLT guage cluster from a 1998 F150. My truck does not have PATS as I was able to make a key at a local store for 3 bucks and it worked and it has manual locks and windows.
I believe that I read that the truck is already wired for a tach and I am wondering if this will be a simple remove and replace? Has anybody performed this? Also, the idiot lights are not all in the same position between the two clusters.....will this cause problems or will they light up correctly once plugged in....
I am a bit of a noob on this so any and all comments will be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Stephen

should be a direct swap.. the only thing is ur mileage would be different on the new cluster.
for the most part it looks like you did ur homework.. if you had a 99-03 with pats you woudlnt be able to get it started without disabling pats with a tune or reprogramming your cluster...(at the dealer)
im lookin to do a swap from my xlt cluster to the svt cluster only because the svt cluster goes to 140 and i am planning to turbocharge my truck and would like the speedometer to go over 100...so for me well, i could disable my pats and swap the cluster myself but have the wrong mileage on it.. or take it to the dealer and have them reprogram the whole thing ot match mileage and stuff (and there probably going to telllme the swap isnt possible but i am 200% sure it works fine)
but yeah......
