Overhead console in '06 Screw

I recently bought a '06 Supercrew Lariat and really love the truck so far. My question has to do with removing the overhead console (it has the sunglasses compartment, map lights and power rear window switch in it. I'm going to install a hands free cell phone kit and need to get the console down so I can mount the device in the sunglasses compartment. Are there just clips or screws holding it up? If there are screws I sure don't see them. Do I just pull the thing down? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to just take off the sunglas compartment but not the lights, you will see two "handles" on the top of each side above the compartment. The owners manual shows that you push up with ur palms between these handles and the compartment then push in the handles and pull it straight down. Came off for me my first try.

This is the procedure for the Rail system.

What davisjc is describing is the Overhead console ( what you get if you do not order the rail system ).

davisjc, is yours the rail, or just the overhead compartment ?
I just took these from my '06 non rail overhead compartment ( been in there 5 times already between Radar det, Parriot HF system, and SAT radio ).

The RED circles are the front clips, the blue ones are marked on the console here.

Shows where the rear clips are in at.

Just open the compartment door, grab with your index finger and thumb in both rear corners, and pull straight down. It takes a bit of a tug, but comes down. With the rear hanging down, you can get a hold of the front, and pull it straight down, and now it is hanging free by the wiring ( as the 1st picture shows ).

Good luck, let me know if this did the trick, or if you have a rail system, which I would need to look up the procedure in the shop manual, to be able to explain that one.[/QUOTE]

Hardwired radar detector

I see in the pic, the radar detector is hardwired. I did this in my '01 and loved it. Can someone tell me which wires to tap for the '06 overhead?

I used the Battery saver circuit

Light Blue = +12v
Black = Ground

This turns it on with the key in the accy & run positions.
