Steering Wheel Question

Quick question I hope someone might be able to answer. I just traded in a 2001 SC lariat w/ 120k miles. That truck lost the leather on top of the steering wheel at about 75k miles. It just wore off the tan leather and left the black sticky leather underneath.

I just bought a new '06 with Tan leather. Question is...Does anyone have any idea as to whether or not Ford licked that problem? (The leather seems different in this one) Or...Should I be doing something to protect this new steering wheel.

Any insight is appreciated.

It appears that the steering wheel in the 04+ trucks are made of a different material than the old trucks. I certainly hope this steering wheel does not do what the last ones did.

Seems like that to me too. I just can't seem to remember what my old one really looked/felt like when it was new. This definitely seems to have a more durable feel to it.
