Meguiars Wipes... gross!... (rant) ...
Meguiars Wipes... gross!... (rant) ...
Our local parts store had Meguiars everything on sale so I thought I would give the protectant wipes a try.
I had used Armour All, and they were oK, but I expected these to be awesome.
Last night I was shipping with my wife and her mother (
) and they were taking forever, so I went out and broke the wipes out and started wiping everything down.
WHAT AN OILY MESS!
Im not against a little oiliness, but these were rediculous. I had to go into the store and buy some lint free cloths and wipe it down so the dash wasn't soaked!
To top it all off, I took to out of the jar or bottle or whatever you call it and laid one on my armrest on my center console..
Good news! It was so oily there is a big ole stain there now... (that is my fault, I know I know)
These things just make a mess, Im going to stick to spraying the protectant on from now on... I will use these to do the weather stipping and the kick panels and stuff, but not the dash!
Anyone else had this experience or found the ulta conveinent wipes that are actually good?

I usually do not like Armor All products but someone recommended the Armor All swipes for cleaning upholstery. I bought some of the ones recommened for plastic, vinyl and cloth. I was very pleased as they removed some spots on the cloth, cleaned up the vinyl arm rest, and did a good job on the dash. No residue at all. They have several different swipes, so make sure you get the ones for plastic and cloth.

Assuming you got the quick interior wipes. I have them and they work well to me, yeah at first I thought they were to saturated and didn't give me the look I wanted. But then I used someone elses advice and I used 1 wipe to do the whole dash and it worked well. I probably use 2 in all to do the dash and side door panels and there's no oily residue left over, just a clean look. And by the time I'm done the wipe is a little moist but almost dry.
I spread the wipe around the area I'm goin to use it quickly, then wipe it across evenly with over lapping strokes so there's no spot that I miss.
But the leather wipes I'd prefer the GC leather cleaner and lexol conditioner. The wipes leave a greasy look I don't like. I only use them for preforated leather, where I have to rub the surface to get stains out and then I go over it with a good leather conditioner.
